Roots & Wings Community Preschool
A Whole Child Approach to Early Learning for 3-5 year olds in Medford, Oregon
(541) 779-3544

At Roots And Wings Community Preschool, our mission is to create a nurturing learning environment that fosters relationships and collaboration between families, children, and teachers. Through meaningful play and hands-on learning, we entrust children to explore, create and grow. We value the contributions of children and families and weave research and theory into everyday practice. We prioritize inclusivity and provide equitable access to quality early childhood education, ensuring strong foundations for learning in the early years.
With a low 7:1 child-to-teacher ratio, our school supports active and inquiring children. Our curriculum is unique as we focus on the individual child’s story, strenghts, and interests, becoming fellow researchersin their natural curiosity. Learning is an emotional and relevant experience, and our teachers ensure the environment promotes cognitive development, experimentations, and growth.

"The Roots & Wings staff has helped my son so much. They have been patient with him and supportive with me in my journey to help him with any learning disabilities that he has. I am happy that he gets the attention he does. I can go to any teacher and ask how his day was and they will all know the details of his day. He has grown tremendously since he started with speech, language, and communication skills. He is comfortable and enjoys going to school." ~ Miranda H.

My daughter loves going to school every day. My daughter's social skills and vocabulary have experienced the most growth. She is learning how to navigate peer relationships that can lead to the development of friendships. In my observation, the dynamic of low teacher-child ratio affords children with the ability to lead the way in their own learning and to have their discoveries seen and heard. Each teacher is so observant and consciously present in his or her interactions." ~ Ann D.

"Since my child has started at Roots and Wings, she has become more outgoing. She loves going to school. She is speaking much more, and she asks questions all the time now. The low teacher-child ratio is great. All the teachers know the kids really well. Our child uses the skills she has learned at school everyday. We really feel lucky to have found Roots and Wings." ~ Jennifer A.

Hi! I am Amanda. I joined the Roots and Wings community in January of 2019. Before Roots and Wings, I worked as a nanny. The children I have worked with have taught me the importance of being a researcher. Just like the children, it is my job to explore new things and learn new skills. I have my associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education and my bachelor’s in Early Childhood Studies. In my free time, I enjoy making jewelry and reading. I also enjoy camping and hiking with my dogs and family.

Hello, my name is Teacher Marjorie and I am the Administrative Assistant here at Roots and Wings Community Preschool. My husband Josh and I have been married for 21 years. In my free time I like to sing, read and cook for special occasions. I started working for Roots and Wings as a practicum student. I loved the school so much that I stayed after I graduated. I am happy to serve the people of Jackson County. I look forward to getting to know you and your children as they attend Roots and Wings Community Preschool.

Hello! My name is Angela. I am a life-long resident of the Rogue Valley where I have loved raising my 3 boys. I have my AAS in Early Childhood Education from Rogue Community College and have previously worked with children as a pediatric dental assistant. I am delighted to have the opportunity to share in the lives of the children who come to Roots and Wings.
